When I first started blogging late last year, my enthusiasm was, well, a bit lackluster. I KNOW I'm an awesome hair and makeup artist, and smart, a bit witty, and knowledgable when it comes to many things, especially my craft. But with so many people achieving success with blogs about "all things beauty", what could I possibly bring to the table? EXPERIENCE.....................
I think I'm so fortunate to have experienced doing hair and makeup in SO many DIFFERENT mediums! I've worked in a department store at a cosmetics counter (retail experience)("regular people"), worked at a Glamour Shots (back in the day), worked with models and actor/actresses on "head shots" (YES, there IS a difference), done "editorial" and "catalog" photo shoots....(I remember in the beginning of my career, agreeing to a job, and being told it was 'editorial rate' and responding 'okay-no problem' with such confidence! I had NO IDEA what the difference was--LOL.......psst..editorial rate means FREE). I worked on a student film right out of makeup school. I remember sitting on the cold ground, freezing, in downtown L.A. at 4 a.m., staring at the Bonaventure Hotel, floating back and forth between the excitement of working on a "film" (I STILL get a little ZING up my spine when I see a huge grip truck and 5K's, scrims, etc. on the street) and thinking "hurry up! I'm freezing! we got the shot-moving on!". TO BE CONTINUED.......................................................................................
